Jupiter
is my Guide Dog. He's a yellow Lab. He
weighs 61 lbs and was two years old on Sept.
19, 2001.
He was trained
at Guide
Dogs of America. We graduated from
school on Aug. 3, 2001.
Before I
knew which dog would be matched with me and become
my Guide Dog I had a dream, or maybe I should
say a visit from Jupiter. I was sleeping soundly
and I woke up with a start as I saw this yellow
lab come right up into my face.
I recognize
his energy, and the dog in my dream was exactly
the same color. Yellow labs have been far
and few between at the school lately. There was
only one other yellow lab in my class and he
was a dark yellow. I have no doubt that
Jupiter visited me before I knew him on this Earth
plane.
He
is a peaceful and loving soul. He stops for
curbs, helps me keep my balance, is my back up
when we cross streets and my excuse for talking
to myself when there are no other humans near
me. <misty
smile>
He also writes
articles from his point of view. I add them into
Marlana's Light Thoughts, we call them Jupiter's
Light Treats. If you would like to add your email address
to that list and receive a short little energy
boost in your email box each Friday, you can

a free subscription.
Update: Jupiter is now retired and living happily in southern Oregon on 7 acres with his three dog brothers and cat sister named Ashley PlushBottom. His life is a dog's perfect life. He lives on the same land as my mom, but my mom's life long friend is his new mom. His new mom has had animals all her life and treats them like people believing they need to be loved and held for the rest of their lives no matter what.
Jupiter is now just a dog, no big responsibilities, just barking digging and enjoying life just because that's what dogs do.
I miss him, and I get reports of his antics any time I ask and lots of times when I don't remember to ask. <smile> I miss him, and I'm so happy he has a great new home.
I will probably not be getting another Guide Dog, but then I always say that when I have to let one go. For now, though my white cane <Fred> and I do just fine. <silly grin>
